WHO WE ARE AND WHAT WE DO Tenleytown Neighbors Association, Inc. (TNA) is a 501(c)(3) community organization with almost 200 members. TNA was formed in 1999 when a developer razed a lovely Victorian home to make way for 26 condominiums. TNA successfully opposed this attempt, but has also supported sensitive development, such as the redevelopment of the historic Sears/Hechinger building on Wisconsin Avenue . TNA is actively involved in land use and planning issues, neighborhood improvement, and historic preservation and education. We established the Grant Road Historic District and periodically hold Tenleytown History Day with interesting tours and good neighborhood cooking. Recent and on-going projects include establishment of a Heritage Trail in Tenleytown, refurbishment of the old fire and police call boxes, work on the Upper Wisconsin Avenue Corridor Study proposed by the D.C. Office of Planning, and work on bringing a Main Street Program to Tenleytown. TNA also sponsors the Tenleytown Against Graffiti project, which removes graffiti from buildings along the commercial corridor. |
