DPW to Collect Holiday Trees through Saturday
For Tenleytown residents who are still taking down their Christmas trees, the Department of Public Works will be collecting trees and wreaths through January 11. According to the DPW website, holiday trees should be set out where trash is normally collected and not in the tree box where leaves are collected.
Trees collected by January 11 will be chopped and composted, so let the environmental benefits motivate you to get moving on putting away those holiday decorations.
If you miss the deadline, DPW says that trees left out with the trash will be collected “as space in the trash trucks allow.” However, past experience may indicate that space never quite becomes available. Hitting the January 11 date may be your best bet to dispose of your holiday greenery.
