Local Photographer Winner in City Paper Contest

Tenleytown resident Stephen Voss was among six winners of the Washington City Paper‘s inaugural photography contest.  The paper selected his series “Federal Limits” out of more than 100 submissions from area photographers.

Voss is a veteran photographer who has worked for major publications around the world, and photographed such luminaries as First Lady Michelle Obama and Archbishop Desmond Tutu.  His well-deserved recognition by the City Paper should come as no surprise to those familiar with his work.

For those who are new to Voss’ photography, his website stephenvoss.com includes a sampling of his editorial and portrait photography, as well as several photo essays. The series on Detroit schools closed as a result of the city’s economic downfall is particularly powerful.

Congratulations to Mr. Voss!
