Wilson HS Students Chosen for White House Film Fest
Wilson High School students Jason Perry and Alicia Oluhara were among a select group of students nationwide who were recognized on Friday as part of the White House’s first student film festival. Their film “Thru the Lens of a Tiger” was one of 16 short films screened at the White House by President Barack Obama and special guests Kal Penn, Bill Nye, and Neil deGrasse Tyson.
The White House, as part of the Obama Administration’s initiative to increase access to high-speed Internet for students and expand educational technology, announced the festival last November. Students across the country submitted more than 2,500 short films addressing the theme of technology in the classroom, depicting its importance and impact on the educational experience. Of the thousands of submissions, only 16 were selected to be screened on Friday at the White House.
