Deadline for ANC Candidates Fast Approaching

ANC 3E Map

There is just one week left to file nominating petitions to get on the ballot as a candidate for this November’s Advisory Neighborhood Commission (ANC) 3E election. ANC 3E represents AU Park, Tenleytown, and Friendship Heights. Candidates must submit signatures of 25 registered voters in their single member district (SMD) to the DC Board of Elections and Ethics (DCBoEE) by 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday, August 6.

As of today, 11 candidates for ANC3E have picked up petitions from DCBoEE, though only one has filed a completed petition to date.

Advisory Neighborhood Commissions advise and make recommendations to District government agencies and the DC Council on a variety of public policy issues, including community and economic development, zoning, parking, liquor licenses, and public safety. They have the closest ties to local communities and are elected to represent directly neighborhood interests. ANC 3E consists of five SMDs of approximately 2,000 residents each. ANC commissioners serve two-year terms and receive no financial compensation for their service.
