While you are out doing last minute school shopping or running errands this weekend consider picking up a few extra items to donate as part of Friendship Terrace’s school supplies donation drive.

Through Wednesday, August 27, the residents, staff, and families of Friendship Terrace, located at 4201 Butterworth Place, are helping to get needed school supplies to deserving students at Eastern High School in Southeast DC.

While all supplies are welcome – including pencils, pens, markers, notebooks, graph paper and highlighters – the highest priority supplies right now are calculators, notebook paper, and index cards. Financial donations are also welcome, and will allow Friendship Terrace to ensure students receive a full complement of necessary school materials.

As of Thursday, more than 50 kids at Eastern High School will be helped by the donations received at Friendship Terrace. With our community’s help, that number can grow.

District students return to class on Monday, August 25. Friendship Terrace will deliver school supplies to Eastern High School on Thursday, August 28. For more information call Friendship Terrace at 202-244-7400.

Eastern High School, located at 1700 East Capital Street, SE, has a student body of 783, over 75% of whom are eligible for free or reduced lunch.
