New Event: Friendship Heights Walking Tour

The Coalition for Smarter Growth is partnering with Ward3Vision to conduct a walking tour this Saturday, October 18 of our neighbor to the north – Friendship Heights. The tour will explore the history of development in the area, the walkability of the neighborhood on both sides of the DC-MD border, and what can be done to continue to make Friendship Heights pedestrian friendly.

The Coalition for Smarter Growth led a similar walking tour in September 2013 of the Tenleytown neighborhood, which included visits to the American University Tenley Campus, the Tenley-Friendship Neighborhood Library, Cityline at Tenley, and the Tenley View (former Babe’s Billiards) construction site, among other locations.

The tour is part of the Coalition for Smarter Growth’s Walking Tours & Forums Series, which highlights those aspects that the Coalition advocates make neighborhoods walkable and livable. Funding for the series, which is free and open to the public, is provided by the National Association of Realtors.

The two-hour Friendship Heights walking tour will begin at 10:00 a.m. at the Friendship Heights Metro station at the intersection of Western and Wisconsin avenues. Those interested in participating can sign up online.
