The Woodrow Wilson High School Theater Arts program has taken on the ambitious Stephen Sondheim musical Into the Woods for its fall production, and anecdotal reviews from opening weekend indicate that the show is a smash hit.

Cast members began rehearsing the modern twist on the Brothers Grimm fairy tales in September, preparing for the challenging score and subject matter. The musical pays homage to the classic stories audience members know and love, but weaves them together to explore the hidden consequences of having your wishes granted.

The final performances of Into the Woods will be given this weekend, with shows at 7:30 p.m. on Friday, November 21 and Saturday, November 22. Wilson Theater Arts will also offer a special matinee on Saturday at 2:30 p.m. Those who attend the matinee will have an opportunity to meet the characters in the lobby of the auditorium after the performance.

Tickets are $15 for adults ($10 for the matinee) and $5 for students and children. Tickets can be purchased at the door or in advance by contacting
