Public Safety Alert: Stalking Incidents Near AU

The American University Department of Public Safety notified the AU community today of two “stalking incidents” that took place late last night and early this morning along Nebraska Avenue near the university campus.

In a crime alert, AUDPS wrote that:

During the late last evening (Nov. 19) and early this morning (Nov. 20), two (2) stalking incidents were reported to the Department of Public Safety. There were no injuries reported on either scene.

Students were approached by a subject on a bicycle as they were walking near the AU campus along Nebraska Avenue and near the 4200 block of Massachusetts Avenue. The suspect made sexually explicit and violent comments to the victims.

The suspect is described as an African American male, between 6’ and 6’4” tall with a lean build. He is between 18-25 years old with a short haircut. He was last seen wearing a red hooded sweatshirt and dark colored pants and riding a bicycle.

Those who might have information about the incident are asked to call AUDPS at 202-885-3636 or the Metropolitan Police Department at 9-1-1.
