2014 Guide to Getting Holiday Greenery in Tenleytown
Need a Christmas tree or holiday garlands? Hoping to get them this week? Well, Tenleytown has you covered! Here’s a list of where you can buy your greenery and support local organizations around town.
The Janney PTA will have Christmas trees and holiday greens for sale on Friday, December 5 from 3:00 until 6:00 p.m. and again on Saturday, December 6 from 8:00 a.m. until 6:00 p.m. Stop by the school at 4130 Albemarle Street to shop trees, wreaths, garland, and centerpieces. If you would rather have your greenery delivered, Janney is taking orders via email through December 21 and will deliver purchases to your home within 48 hours. Browse the catalog of items, complete an order form, and email it to email@example.com.
Deal Middle School PTA will be selling trees in front of the school at 3815 Fort Drive, NW from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. for two weekends. You can purchase trees on December 6 and 7, and December 13 and 14. Deal is the only vendor on our list that offers you a second chance if you don’t get around to selecting your tree this weekend. Available trees include Fraser firs, balsam firs, and blue spruce ranging from 5 feet to 10 feet tall. Wreaths, candle rings, and garland will also be available.
Boy Scout Troops
Boy Scout Troop 666 begins their tree and wreath sale on Friday, December 5 at 3:00 p.m. The sale runs until 8:00 p.m. and again on Saturday 8:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. and Sunday 8:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the Metropolitan Methodist Church, 3401 Nebraska Avenue. Don’t want to make the trip to get your wreath? You can request one be delivered by emailing Brian Turmail at firstname.lastname@example.org; wreaths are $22 each.
Boy Scout Troop 1946 will also start selling trees, wreaths, and garland on Friday, December 5 at 3:00 p.m. The sale runs until 9:00 p.m. and again on Saturday from 9:00 a.m. until 9:00 p.m. and Sunday from 9:00 a.m. until 6:00 p.m. Trees will be on sale at the National Presbyterian Church at the corner of Van Ness Street and Nebraska Avenue.
Boy Scout Troop 100 will have a one-day sale on Saturday, December 6 starting at 8:00 a.m. and continuing until they run out of trees at the Washington International Church, 4420 River Road, NW. Word is that 120 trees were being cut Thursday, December 4, so these trees are sure to be among the freshest. If you are afraid you’ll miss out on the selection, you can pre-order your tree and the boy scouts will even deliver it to your door. Delivery is free if you live within four blocks of the church; $10 if you live a bit farther away. Trees are $65 for 8 foot Fraser and Canaan Valley firs, $35 for blue spruce table top trees, and $25 for wreaths.
