Restaurant Roundup: Gastropub Opens, Le Chat Noir Parties – Plus Pizza

tenley-gastropub logoMichele Lisi and Margarita Dimitrova have taken over the former Public Tenley restaurant, transforming it into the Tenley Gastropub. Never fear, sports fans, you can still enjoy the best in sports programming with more than 30 channels available for your viewing pleasure. Just don’t expect greasy sports bar food. While we haven’t had a chance to sample the new menu yet, a quick look online indicates that Chef Lisi has streamlined the offerings focusing on classic items with quality ingredients. The Tenley Gastropub also offers a straightforward brunch menu and daily food and beverage happy hour specials. Keep an eye out for our review – this is one place we’re looking forward to trying soon.

Tenley Gastropub is located at 4611 41st Street, NW.

Le Chat Noir

Our favorite local French bistro Le Chat Noir is celebrating 10 years in the neighborhood! Join Sam and Marie on Thursday, March 19 for an anniversary celebration and congratulate them on a decade in Tenleytown. To mark the occasion, Le Chat Noir is offering a special three-course, prix fixe menu for $49 featuring some of the chef’s signature dishes. Guitarists Jon Rooks and Lewin David will provide musical entertainment. Champagne will be flowing to toast the success of Le Chat Noir – and to wish them many continued years.

Le Chat Noir is located at 4907 Wisconsin Avenue, NW.

pie five pizza logoTenleytown is getting another pizza joint. Pie Five Pizza is coming soon to the former dry cleaners location between Cava Grill and Nando’s PERi-PERi at the southern end of the neighborhood. Pie Five, which recently opened its first D.C. location at L’Enfant Plaza, boasts all natural, organic ingredients in its personal pizzas that are prepared from scratch in under five minutes. The national chain offers a diner rewards program – the cheekily named Circle of Crust.

Pie Five joins seven other pizza restaurants in Tenleytown, including the local chains Pete’s New Haven and Angelico Pizzeria, as well as national fast-food style chains like Domino’s and Papa John’s. The new restaurant is situated on a block that has seen quite a resurgence following the opening of Cava and Nando’s, and is not too far a walk for American University and Sidwell Friends students, which may help it succeed in a fairly saturated pizza market.
