Some of “Best of D.C.” Found in Tenleytown
The results are in! The Washington City Paper released today its annual “Best Of D.C.” issue with readers’ and staff picks for the best food and drink, entertainment, destinations, and luminaries in and around Washington.
In Tenleytown, it comes as no surprise that local favorite Steak ‘n Egg received special recognition as the Best College Diner. WCP staff writer Sarah Anne Hughes opines:
Steak ’n Egg offers so singular an experience in D.C.: an actual diner with cheap breakfast food, limited counter space, and outdoor picnic tables surrounded by a white picket fence. It’s one of the most charming places in the District, with a structure that seems to say, “To hell with your density concerns! This is worth it!” And as long as you order correctly (stick to traditional diner fare like eggs, grits, and corned beef hash), Steak ’n Egg offers some of the most satisfying food around, 24 hours a day.
WCP readers also gave the neighborhood some love, ranking Woodrow Wilson High School as the Best High School and singling out Pete’s New Haven Style Apizza for the Best Slice of Pizza.
Congratulations to all the winners!
