Photo Friday: Sidewalk Art

Drawing with chalk

If you’ve noticed that the sidewalk next to the Tenley-Friendship Libary is just a little bit brighter these days, you can credit local children who, chalk in hand, set out to add a personal artistic flair to the streetscape.

The temporary art display – chalk proves not so durable in the face of springtime showers – is the product of this month’s In the Zone. Held on the third Tuesday of each month, In the Zone offers kids a relaxing after school program filled with games, crafts, and other fun. The program is just one of many run by the library geared toward children. Offerings include story times for kids of all ages, special games and crafts, LEGO building, family friendly movies, anime, poetry slams, tutoring, and more.

A full schedule of events is available on the library website, and keep an eye out in Tenleytown, D.C.‘s weekly digest for highlighted events.
