Photo Friday: Go Read A Book

Anyone who says they have only one life to live must not know how to read a book.

This Sunday, September 6, marks National Read a Book Day, which encourages people to put down their electronics and pick up a book. Ironically, it is followed on Monday by National Buy a Book Day – perhaps to allow folks to restock their shelves after spending the previous day reading. We would have planned things a little differently, encouraging people to buy a book and then actually to read it, but alas we have little control over these “national days.”

In any event, to mark the occasion we thought this Photo Friday that we’d share some of our favorite spots around town to settle in, put our feet up, and enjoy some quality time with our literary friends.

Regardless of where, we hope you will find time this weekend to get back to the joys of holding a book firmly in hand, and read a classic work, humorous tale, thought provoking essay, enlightening historical recounting, or whatever might strike your fancy. Fortunately Tenleytown has a wealth of places you can seek recommendations on your next read, from the Tenley-Friendship Library to the Little Free Libraries to nearby local book store Politics & Prose.

Let us know in the comments section what you are reading or email tenleytowndc@gmail.com a picture of your favorite reading spots and we’ll add them to our gallery.
