D.C. Resident Snow Team Needs Volunteers

As colder weather approaches, the D.C. Resident Snow Team and residents across the District need your help.

District law requires all residents to clear snow and ice from sidewalks and walkways within the first eight hours of daylight after a snowfall. Serve D.C., the mayor’s office on volunteerism, is recruiting on-call volunteers to help senior citizens and residents with disabilities remove snow from their properties.

Volunteers can register online. The commitment is flexible – help on your own schedule during a snow day and assist however many or few patrons you are able. You can choose to volunteer locally or in neighborhoods across the city.

Lend a hand – and a shovel – this winter to help fellow residents.
