2015 Guide to Getting Holiday Greenery in Tenleytown

Need a Christmas tree or holiday garlands? Hoping to get them this week? Well, Tenleytown has you covered! Here’s a list of where you can buy your greenery and support local organizations around town.

The Janney PTA will have Christmas trees and holiday greens for sale on Saturday, December 5 from 10:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m. and again on Saturday, December 12 from 10:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. Stop by the school at 4130 Albemarle Street to shop trees, wreaths, garland, and centerpieces, or browse and order online. Janney also offers delivery for a $25 fee; items will be delivered on December 6 or 13. Questions can be emailed to holidaygreens@janneyschool.org.

The Deal Middle School PTA will be selling trees in front of the school at 3815 Fort Drive, NW from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. for two weekends. You can purchase trees on December 5 and 6, and December 12 and 13. Available trees include fresh cut Fraser firs and balsam firs, ranging from 5 feet to 10 feet tall. Wreaths, candle rings, and garland will also be available.

The Wilson Crew Team has extended their sale of holiday wreaths. Each 24 inch Fraser Fir wreath comes decorated with a red velvet bow and is delivered to your door by a member of the crew team. Purchase your wreath online while supplies last.

Boy Scout Troops

Boy Scout Troop 666 holds their tree and wreath sale Friday, December 4 through Sunday, December 6 from 10:00 a.m. until 3:00 p.m. each day at the Metropolitan Methodist Church, 3401 Nebraska Avenue. Fraser, Douglas, and Concolor trees will be available for purchase, as will 18-20 inch wreaths. Don’t want to make the trip to get your wreath? You can request one be delivered by emailing Brian Turmail at turmailb@agc.org; wreaths are $20 each.

Boy Scout Troop 1946 will also start selling trees, wreaths, and garland on Friday, December 4 at 3:00 p.m. The sale runs until 9:00 p.m. and again on Saturday from 9:00 a.m. until 9:00 p.m. Trees will be on sale at the National Presbyterian Church at the corner of Van Ness Street and Nebraska Avenue.

Boy Scout Troop 100 will have a one-day sale on Saturday, December 5 starting at 8:00 a.m. and continuing until they run out of trees at the Wisconsin Avenue Baptist Church on Tenley Circle. The trees are cut just two days before arrival, so these trees are sure to be among the freshest. Fraser and Canaan Valley firs, as well as blue spruce table top trees, will be available for purchase. If you are afraid you’ll miss out on the selection, you can pre-order your tree and either pick it up on December 5 or arrange to have it delivered to your door.
