Minsky’s Takes Holiday Decorating to New Level

During this holiday season, Tenleytown shines a little brighter as residents hang garland and twinkling lights and businesses decorate their windows with seasonal displays. The festive adornments add joy on otherwise grey wintry days – now that winter has officially arrived after a string of spring-like days.

And if the sudden shift in the weather has caused a similar shift in your mood, look no further than Minsky’s Hair Emporium for a delightful dose of cheer. Yes, you read that correctly. Thanks to local resident and filmmaker Mark Kokkoros, Tenleytown, D.C. has discovered that behind the doors of Minsky’s Hair Emporium at 4801 Wisconsin Avenue lies a whimsical array of Hanukkah and Christmas decorations lovingly collected over many years by salon owner Jack Bubis.

From Marilyn Monroe to Santa’s elves and everything in between, the salon is brimming with an eclectic mix of modern and traditional holiday decor with each piece tied to memories of family and friends. Enjoy this short film for a peek at the many and varied ornaments, figures, and displays that fill Bubis’ business.
